Spot, our six-year-old male llama, has
been at Fishers since he was a year old.
You might get Spot to walk up to you if
you offer him a handful of grass. Llamas aren't too excited about being
petted, so don't expect him to act affectionate or anything!

 |
For quite awhile, Spot was our only
llama. A traumatic event in his life was the arrival of "Birch," our new
male llama. Birch was accustomed to being the dominant male on another
llama farm. We made the mistake of leading Spot through Birch's pasture,
and Birch tore into Spot with his fighting teeth. You can see Spot's
wound, which is now recovering fine, on his right hind leg in this photo.

Llamas show extreme anger by laying back
their ears. Understanding this fact should help you understand the current
relationship of Birch and Spot - as shown on the left!

We keep these two fellows separated for
a good reason.
