Welcome to Beautiful, Historic Bedford County, Pennsylvania!

The first place to check with if you are visiting Bedford County is the Bedford County Visitors Bureau.  This site will give you a lot of great information about our area.  They will tell you where to shop, sleep, eat, and enjoy yourself in Bedford County.  We recommend that you give them a call at (800) 765-3331.  The friendly folks at the Visitors Bureau would be delighted to answer your questions, send you information, or just give you a few suggestions for touring historic Bedford County.

Bedford Springs Resort is a nineteenth-century mineral springs resort located only a few minutes from downtown Bedford.  After a $108 million dollar restoration project is completed, the facility is scheduled to reopen in July 2007.  More information here.  Click here for the official website.

Old Bedford Village is a collection of over 40 reproduction and authentic log, stone, and frame buildings moved to the site from all over Bedford County. Each building boasts a collection of unique artifacts that tell the story of early American life in Bedford County and Pennsylvania from 1750 to 1900.  It is located only a few miles from the town of Bedford, the Bedford Turnpike interchange, and our store.

Fort Bedford Museum is located near the site of the original Fort Bedford, which served as a rendezvous point along the Forbes Road for the British and American colonists as they advanced on Fort Duquesne during the French and Indian War.  The museum has a fascinating collection of local and Native American artifacts, as well as thousands of household items dating back several hundred years.  One item of interest is an old printing press - a staff member will even let you handle the tiny bits of type.  Among the household stuff, you'll discover useful items made from human hair!
