Dutch Gel Lite No-Cook Freezer Recipes Important Information about Dutch Gel Lite
1. Read Important Guidelines. 2. Choose your method and recipe - this is the No-cook Freezer Method. 3. Follow all directions exactly.
1. Buy NEW lids for jars. 2. Do NOT double recipes. 3. Use RIPE fruit (not under or over ripe). 4. When crushing fruit, crush small amounts at a time. 5. If using a food processor, pulse to chop; do NOT puree.
1. Have fruit or juice at room temperature. 2. Use containers that are 2 cups or less.
3 cups crushed fruit 1/3 cup Dutch Gel Lite 1 cup water 1 cup sugar
To make freezer jam without sugar, follow above instructions but omit the sugar. To use non-sugar sweetener, stir in 18-20 packets to taste into the crushed fruit.
This recipe can be used to make freezer jam with most of the fruits and berries commonly used: apricots, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, grapes, peaches, strawberries, etc.
1. Rinse clean plastic containers and lids with boiling water. Prepare fruit and measure fruit (or juice for jelly) into bowl along with lemon juice (if called for in recipe). 2. Measure 3 cups crushed fruit at room temperature into separate bowl. 3. Mix 1 cup sugar and 1/3 cup Dutch Gel Lite fruit pectin. Stir this mixture into 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Continue boiling and stirring for 1 minute. 4. Stir hot Dutch Gel Lite fruit pectin mixture into fruit or juice mixture. Stir constantly for 3 minutes (A few sugar crystals may remain). 5. Fill all containers to within 1/2 inch of tops. Wipe off top edges of containers; quickly cover with lids. Let stand at room temperature for 24 hours, then place in freezer. After opening, store in refrigerator.
While significantly lower in carbohydrates per serving than regular jam or jelly, Dutch Gel Lite products are not carbohydrate or calorie free. The total carbohydrate content of each jam or jelly will depend on the fruit used and the type and amount of sweetening agent used.
Important information about Dutch Gel Lite Dutch Gel Lite is a special fruit pectin that does not require sugar to gel, so you can enjoy jams or jelly made with no sugar or reduced sugar. If you prefer, sweeten your jam and jelly with a non-sugar sweetener. Dutch Gel Lite jams and jellies will differ from regular jams and jellies. They will probably be less clear than regular, and also you may see some surface moisture after opened and refrigerated. This can be absorbed with a paper towel or stirred back into jam. |
